The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (San Diego) is dedicated to protecting and advocating for the civil, legal, and service rights of individuals with developmental disabilities, and to helping them increase their independence, inclusion, productivity, and self-determination throughout their lifetime. We strive to connect people to needed services and supports, provide information about available services and supports, inform people about their rights and how to be their own advocate, advise people on their appeal rights if a service they need is denied, review policies and practices of publicly funded agencies, identify types of services and supports needed but not available, monitor legislation significant to individuals with developmental disabilities, help people become part of their communities, encourage and assist citizen advocacy organizations, and educate the public about disabilities and the importance of full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the community.
