The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (Los Angeles) is committed to protecting and advocating for the civil, legal and service rights of individuals with developmental disabilities. We strive to provide the highest quality of services and supports to increase their independence, inclusion, productivity and self-determination throughout their lifetime. Our mission includes helping to connect individuals to needed services and supports, providing information about available services, informing them about their rights and how to advocate for themselves, advising on appeal rights if a service is denied, reviewing policies and practices of publicly funded agencies, identifying services and supports that are needed but not available, monitoring legislation significant to individuals with disabilities, helping them become part of their communities, encouraging and assisting citizen advocacy organizations, and educating the public about disabilities and the importance of full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the community.
