Broward County Parks and Recreation is home to the rare and unique Military Trail Natural Area. This site features a mosaic of scrubby flatwoods, oak-dominated scrub, and sand pine scrub as well as a small remnant dome swamp. The plant communities that dominate this site are some of the rarest in Broward County, created from the highest and driest habitat in South Florida. As the region was colonized, development focused first on these areas, leaving very little of the habitat intact. We invite you to explore this protected area and appreciate the beauty of the Florida scrub.
