About
Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver, Best Buddies has grown from one original chapter to over 4,000 chapters worldwide, positively impacting the lives of over 1.5 million people with and without IDD. Their programs engage participants in each of the 50 states and in nearly 50 countries around the world. Best Buddies offers a range of services, including One-To-One Friendships, Integrated Employment, Leadership Development, Inclusive Living, and Family Support. They aim to end the social, physical, and economic isolation of people with IDD and provide them with opportunities to build meaningful relationships, secure jobs, and become leaders in their communities.
