Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver, the organization has grown from one original chapter to over 4,000 chapters worldwide, positively impacting the lives of over 1.5 million people with and without IDD. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 states and in nearly 50 countries around the world. They offer various programs, including One-To-One Friendships, Integrated Employment, Leadership Development, Inclusive Living, and Family Support, to improve the quality of life and level of inclusion for individuals with IDD. With a presence in Irvine, CA, Best Buddies is committed to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of people with IDD. Their mission is to create a world where individuals with IDD have the same opportunities as everyone else, and they strive to make this vision a reality through their programs and services.
