Ballet Virginia is a regional ballet company with an associated academy, providing professional productions and high-quality training for classical ballet dancers in the Hampton Roads community. Founded in 2008 by Suzanne Lownsbury and Janina Michalski, the academy has grown to include two locations in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, serving over 400 students. Ballet Virginia's mission is to foster a lifelong passion for dance through nurturing education, invigorating performances, and artistic excellence. Their programs include classes for children as young as 18 months, as well as adult classes and a professional company. The academy's performances, such as The Nutcracker, have become family traditions for many in the community. Ballet Virginia relies on generous contributors and devoted volunteers for their financial support and time, and they work together with community partners to bring artistic excellence to the Hampton Roads community.

Children's Program
Ballet Virginia's Children's Program offers classes in ballet and tap from ages 18 months to nine years old, teaching discipline, self-confidence, joy, and teamwork.
Lower School
Ballet Virginia's Lower School offers classes in ballet and modern for ages 7 and up, with students placed in levels before registering.
Upper School
Ballet Virginia's Upper School is a progressive course of study designed to bring a dancer from an intermediate level to the technical abilities and artistry of a professional dancer.
Adult Dance Program
Ballet Virginia's Adult Dance Program offers classes in ballet, pointe, and contemporary for adults 14 and up, welcoming dancers of all ages and abilities.
