About
Autism Independence Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Sierra Madre, CA, dedicated to preparing and supporting parents of children with special needs to help their children reach maximum independence. Founded by Amalia Starr in honor of her son Brandon, who achieved independence despite being told it was impossible, the foundation offers independence training for parents and professionals. Their mission is to teach, prepare, inspire, and support parents to live independently. They aim to dramatically lower the percentage of autistic adults living with their families, with over 80% currently doing so. Through their interactive independence training method, they empower parents to take necessary steps for their children's future, addressing challenges before, during, and after transition to independence. By doing so, they bring hope and inner peace to special needs parents and help their children thrive in the world.
