Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped (ARCH)

Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped (ARCH) is a 5-acre recreation center in the heart of Phoenix, offering a full range of programs and activities for individuals of all ages with developmental and physical disabilities. Since its inception in 1975, ARCH has made a unique and lasting contribution to the lives of thousands of people. The center provides a fun, safe environment for youth and adults seeking recreation and sports-related activities. ARCH offers a variety of programs, including Day Treatment for Adults, Adult Drop-In, ARCHKids Program, Special Olympic Training, Adventure Club, Performing Arts, Health and Fitness activities, and Life-Skills Education. The center serves over 350 clients per week, with 85% of participants coming from low-income families. ARCH provides a private pay system for children who are not state-funded and offers a Drop-In program for adults at a low cost. The center is committed to providing services and programs that enable individuals with special needs to obtain the highest levels of independence, physical well-being, and self-esteem. With a staff of 18 full-time employees, 18 part-time employees, and a volunteer base of 275 dedicated individuals, ARCH is a Department of Developmental Disabilities/State Qualified Provider, certified by the state to provide Community Based ‘Human Services’ to all ages.
