Founded in 1953, the organization has been dedicated to advancing the independence and well-being of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and autism. Their staff supports more than 500 individuals throughout Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany parishes. The Arc of Greater New Orleans provides a variety of services to individuals of all ages, including Family Support Coordination, Supported Living Services, Community Integration, Employment Services, and Transportation. Their mission is to create, through education, advocacy, and support, a greater New Orleans community that includes, accepts, and celebrates people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
