Founded in 1988, the center advocates for and with people with disabilities to promote full participation in society. Their mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to take control of their own lives, making decisions and taking responsibility for their actions. The center offers five core services, including Peer Counseling, Information & Referral, Independent Living Skills Training, Advocacy, and Transition, as well as additional services identified by the needs of their consumers. They serve the counties of Washington, Smyth, Wythe, Bland, Grayson, and Carroll, as well as the cities of Bristol and Galax, VA.
