ALMA Family Services

Established in 1975 in East Los Angeles, Alma was founded by parents to provide comprehensive multilingual community-based services for families, including those with special needs. With a 'whatever it takes' tradition of culturally competent services, Alma meets clients' needs in their homes, residential facilities, schools, social and vocational programs, juvenile facilities, and other settings as appropriate. The organization provides eight interdisciplinary mental health outpatient office locations, serving all age ranges, including those with substance abuse, in cities such as Long Beach, Walnut, Pico Rivera, El Monte, and East Los Angeles. Additionally, Alma offers mental health services integrated within community health facilities and domestic violence programs in the greater East Los Angeles and San Gabriel communities. Alma's services include Child and Family Development programs, such as the Child Abuse Prevention – Early Intervention Program for Children with Developmental Disabilities, Centro Estrella Family Resource Center, Preschool Center, Socialization and Community Integration Training, Family & Peer Support, and a unique Aquatics Center with programs for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with special needs. Alma Family Services also provides a wide range of Youth Development Services, including serving 'Youth at the Crossroads' since 2009, in terms of risk of gang involvement. The organization is committed to advancing community wellness and fostering a healthier, safer, more empowered, and inclusive community for everyone.
