About
Adults Independent and Motivated (AIM) is a non-profit community of active adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome and autism, who live independently with appropriate support, in an apartment complex, in a walkable, vibrant suburb of Austin, Texas. AIMers have access to reliable transportation, opportunities for recreation, physical fitness, and learning, and can hold a good job. The community was formed by families of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who wanted an option where their young adults could live in a close-knit community of their peers, experience some independence, but with appropriate supports. AIM extends its gratitude to The Mission Project in Kansas, whose model has served as its inspiration.
