The Access Center for Independent Living (ACIL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that people with disabilities have full and complete access to the community in which they reside. Founded in 1984 by a group of concerned citizens, the majority of whom were persons with disabilities, ACIL serves Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby counties. The organization's mission is to empower people with disabilities to achieve independence by providing independent living services, including adaptive equipment and other resources needed to enhance their independence. With a long history of advocating for accessible transportation, customer rights, and other disability issues, ACIL continues to grow and expand its services to meet the needs of the community. Today, ACIL serves thousands of people with disabilities, providing a range of services and support to help them live independently and fully participate in their communities.
