The Spectrum Program at New Roads School is committed to authentic diversity, specifically neurodiversity. Our students, grades 6-12, receive accommodations such as extended time on tests, extended time on large projects, peer notes, small group testing, and preferential seating at the front of the room. Our students are fully integrated with their neurotypical peers in all academic classes as well as campus-wide activities, while supported daily in developing executive functioning skills, social skills, and self advocacy. Our personalized admissions process provides applicants the opportunity to get to know our community and for us to recognize each applicant as an individual on their own journey. The Spectrum Program is for students who meet the diagnostic criteria specified in the revised DSM-5 for Autism Spectrum Disorder (formerly categorized as Asperger’s Syndrome or High Functioning Autism).
