Hawthorne Country Day School is dedicated to providing a comprehensive educational experience for children ages 5-21 years of age with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, speech and language impairments, multiple disabilities, and other health impairments. Our 6:1:2 and 8:1:3 class sizes are designed to provide a learning environment that is conducive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. Our school day runs from 8:30am to 2:30pm and includes counseling, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and parent education in accordance with each student’s IEP. We use applied behavior analysis and various sources of data to identify programmatic goals, such as aligning our curriculum with the Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities from the NYSED. We also provide grade appropriate, Regents level, work-based learning and/or vocational programing for students 16 to 21 years old to prepare for their transition to post-secondary and/or adult services.
