Their mission is to make a difference by offering people with developmental challenges and their families support to attain independence, self-determination, integration, and acceptance by others through education, exploration, and experience. They believe that all children and adults can benefit from quality education and strive to create a world where all people are recognized and valued for their abilities. With a history dating back to 1962, Abilities First has grown into a multi-faceted operation employing 650 staff members and serving approximately 1,500 people with various kinds of developmental needs. They offer a wide range of services, including early childhood education, occupational therapy, and parent support, to name a few. Located in New Windsor, NY, Abilities First is committed to inclusion and acceptance of people with various kinds of developmental challenges.
