Marti Baio, MA, is the founder of Baio Enterprises, a unique bridge between the two worlds of Development Delays and Social Services. Founded in 1994, Marti’s mission originated from her own life experiences; starting as a Speech-Language Pathologist due to her interest in a family member’s stuttering, then developing her clinic to work with children and adults with severe developmental delays, and finally being inspired to bring the two worlds together after adopting her daughter from the Arizona State Foster Care System. Baio Enterprises provides a much-needed service to the community, fulfilling Marti’s dream of helping others.

At Marti Baio, MA, we understand that it can be difficult to determine if your child needs speech therapy. If your child is autistic, speech therapy is almost always recommended as autistic children often have difficulty with social communication. However, even if your child is very verbal and says a lot of words, they might still benefit from speech therapy. Speech therapy can help teach language and communication skills, such as responding to questions, starting or ending conversations, changing conversation topics, and understanding other people’s body language. It’s also important to note that there is a critical period in the brain for language development, so it is important to teach language and communication skills as early as possible. Signs that your child might need speech therapy include being very quiet, saying only a few words, or not speaking at all.
