At Bay Area Legal Aid | San Francisco County, we understand that justice is not an abstract ideal for many of our communities. It is about providing access to food, shelter, and protection, and helping people move out of poverty and into self-reliance. Unfortunately, more than 1.2 million people in the Bay Area live in poverty, and the cost of living and low-wage jobs make it hard for them to get the help they need. That’s why we’re here. Our clients are low- and very low-income members of our communities, spread across our seven county service area, from San Francisco to Livermore, Gilroy to Napa. We provide legal help to the working poor, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities, so they can get the justice they deserve.
